A Very Special Recipe

Yesterday I spent that day creating the most most ridiculous recipe.. it involves putting my two little people in the same room to share and hoping they don't split, as it were... the recipe I am pleased to say has turned out to be the most delicious slice of heaven cake I could imagine. They are bonding at a new level and it is some kind of wonderful..

It came with other challenges... how to create a room that suits both of my rugrats?!.. well here is my shot at it... a work in progress but am happy so far...

The Playroom (AKA Kitty's Room) is a work in progress and I will show you that next week as no doubt I will have it done by then, just needs a re paint (currently a gorgeous eeni meeni paris pink, I will shed tears loosing that colour) and am flogging a few bits on eBay to be able to pick up a few vintage signs and lil' chairs for decor.

Right off to move those bottom two frames.... anyone else have boys n girls sharing? does it work long term, we think they will bond better.. fingers crossed!!

  1. So glad to hear it has started off well. I am hoping to do this when my second (as yet unborn) is six months old! Looking forward to seeing the playroom.

  2. My 4.5 year old girl and 14 month old boy share a room. My son was always in there for naps but moved in for nights too at 6 months. It's worked better than I thought and even though my son wakes during the night most nights he rarely wakes up my daughter. We also have a separate play room so the bedroom is just for sleeping. I can't see the room sharing working much past when my daughter is 10 though. So we have five years or so to decide whether to renovate or move.

  6. For all, it is going fab BTW... mine are sleepers I will admit so didn't expect much else but do love that all their toys are gone from the living area and if they trash it I can just close the door!!

  7. Oh and Madeline I quite agree, Kitty is 4.5 so I imagine I have about 3.5-4yrs before we decide the exact same question.. or they go back to a room each xx

  8. That looks great, what a brilliant idea! Our son doesn't have a playroom so his room is both his bedroom and playroom. In our previous house we had a playroom and I can say it is essential if you have the space. Good move Tessa, looks lovely.

  9. Tessa, it's been a while but you shall hear more from me in 2012. Love the room you have created. I moved my two in together a few months ago and created a fabulous combined space for them. Mine are currently on the verge of 4 and 20 months and so far it has been going really well. I definetly think it has helped with bonding and also for my eldest to get to sleep at night (being afraid of the dark) now that he has company.

I think it is so cute to see them in their room together. Hope it contines to go well for you.

p.s. Love the website for your business.
