Grateful for flings...

I spend most of the week in two massive contrasts.. either in silence working from home OR with my kids at top volume attempting to ignore work and get chores done. It all gets quite consuming sometimes and this week I had a couple of flings to break the mould.

I had two flings with my girlies at the coffee shop and another with my kids at the beach. Each fling only lasted an hour or so but it was blissful and pulled me out of a hole I keep climbing in that is a little dark and crampt for my likings..

Tomorrow I have two flings scheduled... one with Kelly for a run and a chat and another for a birthday lunch with the girls here..... I have a feeling I found a new method to cope with working from home... I have already booked a couple more flings for next week with my PR girls and then a certain lovely lady from Real Living Mag.

So this week I am grateful for flings.. they don't need to be naughty they just need to be worthy...

Q&A with our Giveaway

From Kirsty one half of KinKit:)

Why did you choose your business name?

We all have people in our life that we naturally create bonds with…our 'kin'. People that understand us, create with us or just generally 'get' us.

Our business name KinKit evolved from caring for our 'kin' and creating the special Remedy 'kits' for them…

Have you had any major highlights, personal or business in the last few years?

We were originally approached by a big company to design some natural skin care products for them, lots of meetings, business plans, financials but little emphasis on helping others or balance.
Ann had been teaching Aromatherapy, Massage and Bach Flower Remedies for many years and I had studied Herbalism and Naturopathy so we used this experience to create our own business without compromising the product content or our belief systems.
Ironically, the first Kinkit Remedy we created was Even Keel, made with Bach Flowers and we love this remedy. We think of it as our maintenance remedy, it’s the one that keeps you balanced and true to yourself through all kinds of emotional squalls and rough weather.
The highlights has been to see that you don't have to have everything worked out, just start, the next step will turn up and it's possible to make it work for everyone.

What have you most enjoyed in your career so far?

Creating Remedies through KinKit has been a common bond, through quite different periods in our life. Kirsty having two small children, Ann travelling alot.
A big bonus of owning your own business is having the freedom to design your own work hours and schedule, to make your own decisions at every level and to be really proud of your own product. We were absolutely determined to use our skills to create products that really delighted and helped others, ones that we knew we could say….here take this…this might help. Something you could send, when you 'couldn't be there'.
We have also connected with others who we would not normally have met….often just via email…  'down that little lane' is a perfect example of this. Tessa emailed me after finding the Remedies online…we loved the fact that she understood what we were trying to express and was so open and encouraging.

What inspires or motivates you?

We are inspired by the Remedies, nature and the opportunity to have fun and be creative at the same time.
It's quite amazing to help people create 'shifts' in their perspective with the help of a carefully selected Remedy. For us, the Remedies are the perfect antidote to stress and help you  'realign' your emotions.
We are particularly motivated to help make the KinKit Remedies accessible to people who may have not been exposed to flower remedies in the past.

..and lastly tell me one things about yourself that you love but has nothing to do with business.

Following a trip we made to India, we wanted to do something together to make a difference, so together with a whole lot of our friends (kin) we have an involvement with an orphanage in India that brings us lots of joy!

Grateful to have the free recharge...

This week I am grateful for the Sunshine..

It soothes the soul, revives the spirit and even gives you rosy cheeks..

Most of the week we all stare at it from behind the glass as life is busy and we can't all lay on the sand all day long but even sitting on a step, hitching your skirt and just closing your eyes to soak it up can be the 10 minute hit you need..

But the thing I am most grateful for is it is a free recharge its nice to have things that come at no cost but are priceless in their results. Next time its sunny just stop at a bench, sit on a step, walk an extra block as a detour just to soak it up.. You won't be sorry xx

* if you just don't get much sun where you are hop over here and grab yourself a little reminder... I have ;)

And the winnner is....

Let that Dragon Roar..

I have always known I am competitive and that I was capable of rising to any challenge presented to me but recently I am finding a new trait within me.. its a inner strength that has me feeling like I can rise up and roar like a dragon.

Why a dragon? Because this roar comes from the belly, it comes from deep inside, from a place I have never ventured. I am not sure if that is because I have never needed to or never wanted too but whichever it is I have discovered it now and I feel mighty. I have been self employed all my life and I have worked in industries where people pick fault in your daily as part of that job and I can take it, oh boy can I take it but on the days that I am tired and emotional from too many hours working and two children I never had in those previous industries I am now finding I have to breathe deep into my belly and roar, it is such a strong visual for me in gives me goosys and it partners with my old mantra for racing of "bring it on". I am sharing because it doesn't matter who you are or what you do you too can feel empowered.. just don't be scared to venture to that place. I wish I had been forced to do it ages ago.

How do you find your dragon? or is yours a different friendly beast?

Q&A with our Giveaway

When did you start your business and how did it come about?

Pip and Co started in July 2010 when my son was 6 months old.  I always wanted to have my own business and loved being creative.  I tested the concept out at a few markets and it had a great impact so decided to go ahead with it.

Why did you choose your business name?

A friend came up with the idea and I loved it! As Pip is the seed which is the beginning of something special.

What have you most enjoyed in your career so far?

Seeing my son Max look up in his room to point, smile and get very excited at his wall scooter and wooden planes on his walls.

When the gorgeous shop My Messy Room in Summer Hill took my first order and displayed the silhouettes in the shop and then sold what they had ordered.

Meeting inspiring and talented business owners at Mathilda’s Markets in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart.

Have you had any major highlights, personal or business in the last few years?

Having my son Max now 2 has been a major highlight as he is also the focus and creative inspiration behind the silhouettes.  When customers send me lovely photos or emails of there silhouettes it is very special.

What inspires or motivates you? and lastly tell me one thing about yourself that you love but has nothing to do with business..

I love to travel and discover new places to shop, eat and meet new people.  My family moved from Melbourne to Sydney last year so we are loving finding so many great places to visit

Grateful for Clarity

This week I am grateful for Clarity....

No matter what is going on in my life if I go on a run and chuck on some Drum and Base I gain clarity.. my thoughts have to shout at me over the music and my motivation is driven by some serious beats.

This week I am grateful it is that easy for me... I come back from a 1hr run a renewed person I have my plans set in stone and I always have an overwhelming emotional connection to those I love during that run as I speak to each of them in turn and hear their thoughts (albeit my made up answers of what they would say).

I suck in thew views because lets face it they are always gorgeous in Sydney and I come back ready to take on the world.

Life is good with Clarity and I am grateful I have that. How do you get your clarity?

And the winner is....
